For most customers, the answer is YES! 800/888/877 numbers are yours and you can move your

ARE THERE ANY FEES FROM MY LOCAL SERVICE (BELL) FOR
SWITCHING OVER?
The local exchange carrier (LEC) frequently has a one-time charge of $3-5 per
line, to switch service over from the existing carrier to QWEST. This MAY be
refundable-we do NOT have details yet. IF it becomes refundable, simply make a copy
of your local Bell invoice showing this fee, attach it to your long distance invoice, and
deduct the switchover fee from the amount you send; i.e., a $5 switchover fee and a $100
long distance bill results in you sending a check for $95 to QWEST along with a copy of
the $5 switchover fee page.
I HAVE MULTIPLE LOCATIONS, CAN I HAVE ONE INVOICE?
Yes. The billing can be consolidated into one statement.
I WANT SEPARATE BILLING FOR MY RESIDENCE AND MY
OFFICE. CAN YOU DO THAT? WHAT IF I WANT COMBINED BILLING?
Yes and yes.
WHAT ABOUT CALLING CARDS?
IF YOU ARE A HEAVY CALLING CARD USER ASK ABOUT OUR $0.14 PLAN WITHOUT A CARRIER SURCHARGE.
The calling card is available at just 12 CPM with a 40 cent per call
surcharge, for both Intra and interstate calling. For international calling, the
rate is the same international rate as listed, plus a $0.75 surcharge. New FCC rules
require that all carriers, not just this carrier, add a 30-cent fee to any calls made from
a payphone. There are no surcharges for calls direct dialed from your home or residence.
WHAT ABOUT MY CELL PHONE?
Cell phones can use this service for the long distance portion only, not for
local service. Cell phone company procedures vary widely, so some cell phone
companies may not switch your service. The long distance and international rates are
the same for cell phones, as for residential or business. Please note, while
residential and business lines are automatically switched to our carrier, with cell
phones, after a customer is approved, the customer has to call their cell phone company
and inform them to make the switch, using the PIC code.
IS THE INVOICE DETAILED?
Yes. Every call is listed with the date, the time, the city and state
called, the number dialed, the duration and the total cost. Summaries are provided
for all interstate, in-state, and international calls. And there are additional
summaries provided for each and every outbound and 800 line used.
CAN CUSTOMERS SIGN UP AS A NO PIC 10XXX, CASUAL PIC OR
SECONDARY PIC?
No. In order to receive these low rates, you must switch to our carrier,
you can not "casual call" this service.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SWITCH OVER A CLIENT TO OUR NEW
SERVICE?
Please note that this program has such a demand that, currently, it is running
10-20 days after receipt of accurately completed paperwork. While most clients are
converted in the 10+ day time period, on occasion it has run 30 days to complete the
switch over.
The sign up document is a simple one page
form.
WHAT IS THE QWEST GUARANTEE?
QWEST guarantees the performance of their people and service. If within 60
days of switching to any QWEST service, you are not completely satisfied with the quality
and performance of the services, upon written notice, QWEST will pay to switch you back to
your previous level of service (excluding rate changes).
IS THIS A LIMITED TIME SPECIAL RATE?
No. These rates are in effect until further notice.
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW FCC RULES REGARDING 800 CALLS AND FEES?
New FCC rules require that all carriers, not just this carrier, add an
approximately 30-cent fee to any calls made from a payphone to an 800 number.
DO I HAVE TO NOTIFY MY LOCAL BELL OR CURRENT LONG DISTANCE
CARRIER?
No, we coordinate all of that for you.
WHAT ABOUT THE NEW FCC RULES REGARDING LOCAL EXCHANGE
CARRIER PASS-THROUGH FEES?
New FCC rules require that all carriers, not just this carrier, apply an
additional fee for the usage of the local Bell services. Some carriers, not this
carrier, are contemplating charging a percentage of your usage as a fee to offset their
costs. Most other carriers will soon begin to apply a $3-5 monthly fee, in addition to all
of your current fees, per line. Remember, this is the case with ALL carriers (it is
the law
), not just QWEST.
HOW CAN I PREVENT SLAMMING?
Slamming is when you phone lines are switched to another carrier without your
permission. It is illegal to slam. To test your lines for which carrier
services each specific line, dial 1 700 555 4141. This will tell you, for that one
specific line you called from, who the carrier is. You must repeat this for each
line. Once you are sure you have the carrier, then call your local Bell
company and ask for a "PIC freeze." The PIC is the 5-digit code the local
Bell attaches to each call you make so they know who to bill. For instance,
Sprints code is 10333; WilTels code is 10555. By placing a "PIC
freeze" on the line, the PIC code can not be change without VERBAL authorization from
the user! Also, you can add a password to prevent an agent from calling and saying
it is you. Do this AFTER your lines have switched to your new carrier!
