HOW CAN I USE BOTH A 10-10 DIAL AROUND PLAN AND MY REGULAR LONG DISTANCE COMPANY TO SAVE MONEY?
You can use a 10-10-### with your other long distance plan long distance plans to maximize your telecom savings. Some clients, no matter what, will not leave good ole AT&T, so they have the option of keeping AT&T and getting a 67 cent rate to India by dialing around.  Sometimes you have new service, and need a carrier right away, this can do the trick.

CAN I USE A DIAL AROUND PLAN WITH MY LEAST COST ROUTING (LCR) PHONE SYSTEM?
If you are a business with least cost routing capabilities, you can program your PBX switch to use different dial around plans and lower your telephone costs. You can use many dial around companies to maximize your phone savings by using dialarounds with the lowest rates to place US or international calls.

WHAT RISK DO I HAVE USING 10-10 DIAL AROUND PLANS?
If you know the rates, using a 1010 dial around presents little risk. You control when you call and where you call, and if you know the rates, you are in charge.

You can, of course, use 1010's alongside your traditional long distance service. You'll find many reasons to get in the habit of using 1010 numbers to make long distance phone calls. Some of the major reasons to 1010’s are:

  • 1010's are almost always cheaper than calling plans because they are more flexible and often cost less per minute

  • By using 1010 numbers, family members or group houses can segment long distance calls by person (each person uses a different 1010 number based on their calling patterns), making it easy to split up the phone bill at the end of the month

  • 1010 bills are easy to understand and pay

When you make a long distance call, you pick a 1010 company to use. For example, you might dial 1010999 + 1 + 212 + 1234567 to make your call. The call will most certainly have the same quality as regular calls -- 1010 numbers almost always use the big carrier's own phone lines to route your calls!

HOW DO 1010 PLANS INVOICE?
Most 1010 phone carriers bill you via your local phone bill - this is called LEC (Local Exchange Carrier) billing. As a bonus, your local phone bill usually will segment each of your 10-10 companies so you can see how much you spent by each carrier Some of the 1010 dialaround plans will invoice your credit card and some will send separate statements for your long distance usage.

HOW CAN 1010 PLANS BE CHEAPER THAN MY CALLING PLAN?
1010 plans, like any thing else, vary. So check your 1010 pricing, before you call!

WHERE DO 10-10 PLANS WORK FROM?
1010 rates only work in the US, and generally from the “lower 48”

WHERE WON'T 1010 SERVICES WORK FROM?
1010 services function from most regular phones. Not all local carriers are set up to work with 10-10 numbers, some of the smaller local carrier will not allow 10-10 dial around plans. Here are a few places that they will not work from:

  • Dorm rooms (use our alternative 1010 dial around plan as an alternative)

  • Pay Phones (use our calling card plans as an alternative)

  • Cell phones (use our call back plan as an alternative)

  • Hotel rooms (use our calling card plans as an alternative)

  • Hospital rooms (use our calling card plans as an alternative)

  • Prisons

  • Private calls from work (use our alternative 1010 dial around plan as an alternative)

We do offer an alternative 1010 dial around plan that can work from most of the above locations.

I DON'T HAVE A LONG DISTANCE CARRIER ON MY LINE CAN I USE A DIAL AROUND PLAN?
If you have elected to not have a long distance carrier assigned to your home phone, it is likely that you are blocked from using all dial arounds. You must contact your local phone company and ask if they will allow you to use a dial around service without have a long distance plan on your phone line, BEFORE you attempt to use a 1010 service.

GAWD, JUST WHAT IS THE UNIVERSAL SERVICE FUND (USF)?
As a result of Congress and the Telecommunications Act of 1996, all telephone companies are required to contribute to the government mandated USF fund. This 'tax' was created to allow for affordable telephone service to schools, libraries, rural health care facilities etc. Your telephone carrier is permitted to charge USF fees as a way to recover their cost of providing its customers with phone service. Some carriers charge a monthly fee while other charge a percentage of your bill.

These USF fees can create a great deal of confusion because long distance carriers are free to charge as they see fit. Additionally the name actually describing the USF can vary considerably among carriers. Some long distance carriers bill the fee as "Universal Connectivity Charge," "Federal Universal Service Fee" or "Carrier Universal Service Charge" etc. Also, rate comparisons between companies can be deceptive since some companies advertise rates with the fee included while others consider it an extra fee.

CAN A 1010 DIAL AROUND PLAN BE USED FROM OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES?
No, the ability to dialaround is dependent on using the 7 digit 1010 carrier code, so you can not use 1010 dial around plans to make calls from overseas. To make calls from overseas to the US or to other foreign countries please see our international call back plans.
